Of Drops of Water

It doesn’t matter

if the glass is half empty

or if it’s half full.

The fact there is just a smidge,

a mere drop

of water

means there is hope.

A pebble of potential.

It’s easy to see what we don’t have enough of,

we don’t have enough time

or enough money

or enough say

that oftentimes we forget to acknowledge

what we do have…

food on the table

looks from loved ones

breath in our lungs.

Maybe it’s the grey clouds today that have lowered the sky

and made me feel oppressed

by negativity.

Maybe it’s because I , myself,

am teetering

on the thin edge between optimism and pessimism

and have no patience for those who

dismiss without even trying.

For those who ignore the drop in the glass.
